It is amazing how the consumer can fall for the 're-invention of the wheel' technique used by many salesmen. But it happens. Even in the Marine Industry with the right marketing approach you can sell anything to anyone.

But just as an example, there is a chair manufacturer who thinks that screwing 42 wood screws in the bottom of a teak chair seat would be the correct way to mount your hardware?? Even if they were bedded correctly eventually salt water will find them.
